Three Birches Print Maine Too bad we cant harnessPaper birch is easy to overlook in summer when the forest is full. In winter, those white trunks become the thing you notice pale against dark understory, smooth bark interrupted by the large, dark lenticels that mark where the tree breathes. I've encountered birch on nearly every trail I hike in New Hampshire. This piece grew out of that accumulated attention.
