I knew when I did the acid over the aluminum leaf it would eat away some of the metal so I painted it the background black and it comes through in spots reminiscent of an antique mirror

I also sprayed the wet paints at the edges with a misting bottle and tilted the piece back and forth until I got the look I wanted

Raised copper metal is used on the horizon line to make it look like the original

Honestly it's one of those paintings I wish I'd kept

I created the background sky, mountains and earth using acrylic paints and acid oxidized paints. Michele finished the piece with her lined up aspens also in acrylics.
